However, earlier the T20 series this two teams have also played a two matches Test series where once again the Lions beat the Tigers by 1 – 0 games. So, now after winning the first T20I match, they already secured the T20I series and to win the series, they must win the 2nd match.

The first T20I between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was taken place in 15th February, 2018 which was staged in Dhaka at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. It was a day/ night competition where earlier team Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Team Bangladesh introduced plenty of new players in the match which made their T20I debut. Ariful Haque, Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain and Nazmul Islam made their T20I debut through the match for Bangladesh where Shehan Madushanka made his T20I debut for Sri Lanka. However, it was the first match for Mahmudullah as a captain of Bangladesh.

However, Bangladesh played very good yesterday and presented a huge score in front of the Lions. They scored 193 runs by playing 20 overs and they lost five wickets by then. Mushfiqur Rahim was the highest scorer for Bangladesh who scored 66 runs and remained not out. He faced 44 balls and did that score. Jeevan Mendis took two wickets for the Lions. 193 runs is the highest total for Bangladesh in T20I competition and they hoped to beat the Lions this time. But the Lions really played great. They chased it successfully. They took only 16.4 overs and scored 194 runs. They dominated the Bangladeshi bowlers it seems. Kusal Mendis scored highest 53 runs. He faced only 27 balls. Nazmul Islam took two wickets for Bangladesh. Kusal Mendis received the man of the match award later.

It seems that Bangladesh needed to score few more runs and so, they could beat the Lions. Now, to draw the series, the Tigers needs to win the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka.
