Sri Lanka scored 205 runs in 1st innings at Nagpur

The 2nd Test between Sri Lanka and India has started earlier today which is staged at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. In the match, the Lions won the toss and decided to bat first. But in the 1st day of the 2nd Test the Lions faced batting disaster. Sri Lanka scored 205 runs in 1st innings at Nagpur. They even could not finish the 1st day and now, India is dominating the 2nd Test.

In the 1st Test at Kolkata, Sri Lanka made a draw and so, they had two matches left to secure the series. The Test series consists of the three matches and first test finished with draw. Due to rain, the first test could not stage properly but 2nd match was the chance.

Basically, India used to take the home ground opportunity where the Lions team is currently travelling India to play a Test, ODI and a T20I series against Men in Blue.

However, Sri Lanka opened their innings with Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dimuth Karunaratne. It seemed that their starting was well measured but in just 20 runs, Sadeera Samarawickrama was out by Ishant. He gave catch to Pujara. He scored 13 runs only. After his departure, Lahiru Thirimanne came but he scored only 9 runs. After another 24 runs, 2nd wicket was gone. He was bowled by Ashwin. Angelo Mathews also tried well but scored just 10 runs. Basically, since the beginning of the match Indian bowlers took control of the game and dominated the crease. Later , skipper Dinesh Chandimal came to join the opener Dimuth Karunaratne. They added more than 60 runs to the scoreboard. Later Dimuth Karunaratne was out with individual 51 runs. After losing him captain of the Lions, Dinesh Chandimal tried to make another partnership but the did not last long. He made another three partnership and every time at the end of the crease, the player was changed. They were out actually. Dinesh Chandimal scored highest 57 runs so far. In 79.1 overs, the Lions finished their innings by scoring just 205 runs.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli used only four bowlers which took all wickets of the Lions. Spinners of Indian team were quite successful in that very ground. Ravichandran Ashwin took highest four wickets where Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma took three wickets each.

According to the last news of the match, Before end of the day, India is in bat and scored just 11 runs. They lost already one wickets Lokesh Rahul in just 7 runs so far. Lahiru Gamage took the wicket for the Lions.
