Sri Lanka cricket team is currently touring Australia due to play a T20I series against Aussie. The T20I series consists of three matches and they are scheduled to play a warm up match against Prime Minister’s XI in 15th February, 2017 at Manuka Oval, Canberra.

The Lions has just finished a dual tournament against the Proteas where they played Test, ODI and T20I series. While touring South Africa, the Lions just managed T20I trophy against Proteas by 2 – 1 but rest two series were lost completely. Among them, they played ODI tournament last and lost every matches there and so, Proteas won by 5 – 0.

However, here we talk about their T20 performance. Though, in test and ODI, the Lions are seems a bit weaker but in T20 competition, they can fight. Most of the Lankan players are almost younger and so, they have still lack of international experiences. But, they have couple of fearsome batsmen in their current team squad and their bowlers have variation.

In the upcoming series against Australia, the Lions team will lead by Upul Tharanga instead of their regular skipper Angelo Mathews. Mathews is in injury and could not participate in upcoming competition. Besides, Sri Lanka has Asela Gunaratne, Seekkuge Prasanna where Prasanna was good in last South Africa tour. Besides, after long time, Lasith Malinga has got the chance to compete with the national team and would play with the best eleven against Australia. Let’s take a look below where Sri Lanka revealed team squad is listed according to the news.

# Sri Lanka Team Squad: Upul Tharanga (C), Asela Gunaratne, Niroshan Dickwella (WK), Nuwan Kulasekara, Chamara Kapugedara, Kusal Mendis, Lasith Malinga, Sachith Pathirana, Dilshan Munaweera, Lakshan Sandakan, Seekkuge Prasanna, Dasun Shanaka, Vikum Sanjaya, Isuru Udana, Milinda Siriwardana.

As stated by the recent ICC T20 ranking, Sri Lanka is placed in 8th position where team Australia is in 5th position. The top position is captured by New Zealand team. SO, though, Australia is 15 points behind than the top team New Zealand, it does not prove Australia is weaker. Australia is always favourite in any competition but in upcoming tour, the Lions would get a little facility that Australia team will lead by Aaron Finch instead their regular skipper Steve Smith. Smith along with Warner and couple of more talented players will not take part in the competition and so, the Lions could able to defeat them.
