South African cricket team which is also known as Proteas is currently touring Sri Lanka. They were to play a Test series there but later, one Test was replaced by couple of ODI matches. Now, they are in ODI schedule with the Lions. Earlier, Sri Lanka won the Test series against South Africa and now, the five matches ODI series started. Proteas started the ODI series with victory and now, in the 2nd ODI, South Africa won by 4 wickets against Sri Lanka.

So, now team South Africa leading the ODI series by 2 – 0 games. They have still three matches in hand and to secure the series, they just have to manage a single victory out of three matches. Now, in 1st August, 2018 the 2nd ODI between the Lions and Proteas started. At the venue Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla the 2nd match was executed. It was the same venue where the first match took place. Earlier the ODI series, team South Africa played a tour match against Sri Lanka Board XI in 26th July, 2018 and got a victory.

In the 2nd ODI, local team Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. For the Lions, two players named Kasun Rajitha and Prabath Jayasuriya made their ODI debut. Besides, it was the 50th ODI of Proteas player Kagiso Rabada.

So, the Lions started to bat with Tharanga and Dickwella. In 13 runs opening partnership was broken. Tharanga was gone with 9 runs so far. In the same stage, 2nd wicket Mendis was gone. He failed to opne the run account. Later, Perera came but scored only 12 runs. Dickwella and captain Mathews made a partnership where Dickwella scored 69 runs. Mathews remained not out with 79 runs highest. Rest players added few more runs where Jayasuriya scored 18 runs and Perera scored 19 runs so far. By playing complete 50 overs team Sri Lanka scored 244 runs in exchange for eight wickets. Ngidi and Phehlukwayo took three wickets each for the team Proteas.

Later, Proteas came to chase the score and openers of the team added 91 runs where Amla was gone with 43 runs so far. De Kock scored 87 runs highest. Top orders did their job well where captain Du Plessis scored 49 runs and Duminy scored 32 runs so far. In 42.5 overs team South Africa reached the destination by losing six wickets. Dananjaya took three wickets for the Lions.
