South Africa won 2nd Test at Port Elizabeth

The 2nd Test between South Africa and Australia took place in 9th March, 2018 which consisted of five days. The Test was finished in 13th March where South Africa won 2nd Test at Port Elizabeth. So, now after winning the 2nd Test against Australia, team Proteas has returned to the game with new looks. They lost the first test and now, the series is even with 1 – 1 game. There are two matches are still in hand and to win the series both teams will try with their best.

South Africa won 2nd Test at Port Elizabeth

Australia is currently touring South Africa after finishing their home tournament against England and New Zealand. However, Australia has a good memory in their last tournament where they won Trans Tasman Tri Series this year.

The tour of Australia in South Africa officially started in 1st March, 2018 but earlier they played a warm up match against South Africa A team as well. In the first Test, Australia won by 118 runs against Proteas. So, in 9th March, 2018 the second Test started and then Australia took the same decision as the first match. They came to bat at the beginning when they won the toss. But with bat, this time Australia could not get success but scored only 243 runs. They failed to play complete first day as well. Later, Proteas started to bat and the standing of AB De Villiers, team Proteas made a good score in their first innings. Aussie bowlers failed to take Villiers wicket but he scored undefeated century out there. In the first innings, South Africa took lead of the match where they scored 382 runs so far.

Later, in the 2nd innings Australia started to bat but failed to play better innings than first time. They played total 79 overs in the match and scored 239 runs so far. Usman Khawaja scored highest 75 runs in the second innings for Australia. In the first innings Kagiso Rabada took five wickets and in the 2nd innings, he once again destroyed Aussie innings by taking highest six wickets alone. So, considering both innings, he took eleven wickets alone and got the player of the match award.

However, Australia failed to make handsome lead of South Africa and so, Proteas came to chase the score and by losing four wickets, they reached the target. This time, De Villiers failed to remain unbeaten but scored 28 runs so far.

The 3rd Test between them will take place in 22nd March, 2018 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
