Riding on an unbeaten century from Soumya Sarkar, Bangladesh pulled off their first ever whitewash of Pakistan after winning the third and final One-Day International (ODI) by 8 wickets in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Everything was going well for the visitors, who were cursing at 202-2 at one stage, thanks to a century from skipper Azhar Ali. However, following the captain’s departure, Pakistan batsmen lost control to eventually get all-out for 250 runs.

In response, Bangladesh got off to a flying start through openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, as the duo put up a 145-run partnership, before the former perished for 64. Even Mahmudullah Riyad (4) fell cheaply soon after.

Subsequently, Sarkar (127*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (49*) stood up to the occasion to guide the hosts to their third consecutive triumph and complete a clean sweep.

Tamim Iqbal was named the Man of the Series for scoring 312 runs in the 3-match series.
