In what turned out to be a blockbuster deal, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have agreed upon touring Australia for a bilateral series involving 5 One-Day Internationals (ODI) and 3 Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) in January next year.

Australia vs India 2016 Schedule

The two teams – currently ranked at the top of the ODI rankings – are scheduled to kick-off the tour on January 12 in Perth, with the rest of the matches slated to host by Brisbane (Jan 15), Melbourne (Jan 17), Canberra (Jan 20) and Sydney (Jan 23).

Subsequently, Adelaide (Jan 26), Melbourne (Jan 29) and Sydney (Jan 31) will lay on the 3 T20Is.

‘Strong Rivalry’

“These (two) teams met in the semi-final of the World Cup (2015) in a match which saw more than 300 million fans watching on TV in India, and we want to continue to build a strong rivalry which will be on show throughout the summer,” Cricket Australia executive general manager Mike McKenna was quoted as saying by CricBuzz.

H2H Record

In 118 ODI’s played so far between the two heavyweights of the sport, Australia enjoys a 68-40 head-to-head record against India, with 10 games being washed out due to an array of reasons.
