The match between Warwickshire and Yorkshire was the 8th match in the ongoing season of Royal London One Day Cup 2018. In the tournament, this two teams have participated from group North. Warwickshire was in bad luck. They failed to start the season with victory. In their first match, they faced defeat against Derbyshire. But, Yorkshire did great. They won the inaugural match against Durham Jets. However, in the 2nd match of both teams which was the head to head battle between them, Sam Hain led Warwickshire to victory against Yorkshire.

Now, By playing two matches, both teams managed one victory each. So, they have come to an even. Hopefully Warwickshire which team won the title in 2016 Royal London Cup for last time has returned to their previous form.

The tournament of Royal London One Day Cup consists of limited over competition. The tournament is a result of replacement. ECB 40 named tournament was replaced in 2014 and the current form of Royal London One Day Cup was invented in that time. In the same time, 50 overs per side match was fixed and so, it is now a first class county competition where total nine teams from each group used to take part. Yorkshire and Warwickshire have come to the competition from North group.

In 20th May, 2018 the match between them was executed. It was a day competition and the match started in 11.00 according to BST. In the match, Yorkshire won the toss and decided to bat first.

Adam Lyth and Tom Kohler started the innings with good run rate. Adam scored 38 runs and Tom Kohler scored 39 runs so far. In 85 runs both of them were gone. Then Pujara came up and played with responsibility. He scored highest 73 runs for the team.In 50 overs, team Yorkshire played full overs lost nine wickets. They scored totally 247 runs so far. Jeetan Patel took four wickets where Olly took two wickets for the team Warwickshire so far.

In 39 runs Warwickshire lost opener Pollock. But Trott and Sam made a partnership. Trott scored 50 runs and Sam Hain scored 102 runs. He remained not out till the last and left the ground with victory. Besides, Adam Hose scored 44 runs more. By losing five wickets team Warwickshire reached the target in 45.4 overs. Ben Coad and James took two wickets each for Yorkshire.
