He was one of the most feared bowlers across all the formats of the game. Once he ran in to bowl, the batsman had a flummoxed mindset, for he had numerous perplexing variations. Not only was he a wicket-taker, but also someone who could win you a match single-handedly.

But, the time has changed for worst for Saeed Ajmal. The veteran Pakistan off-spinner has been dropped from the 15-man squad announced Wednesday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.

37-year-old Ajmal had been banned for allegedly ‘chucking’. Subsequently, he underwent an amendment in his action, before returning to the professional circuit after a long break. Ever since his return, however, Ajmal has lacked the elite buff up that he used to possess in his heydays.

Consequently, Ajmal has been snubbed by the PCB selection committee for the bilateral series against Sri Lanka that involves 3 Tests, 5 One-Day Internationals, and 2 T20Is.

SQUAD: Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Shan Masood, Azhar Ali, Misbah-ul-Haq (C), Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Imran Khan, Ehsan Adil.
