Indian cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, is surely known as a ‘Good Boy’ of cricket and is considered to be one of most sincere players in history of sport. But this time, he is in news for all the off-beam reasons.

According to reports, Sachin had asked, IIT Delhi for land, where he could open his cricket academy, for which he was even ready to pay a sum of Rs. 70 lacs.

This has allegedly not gone down well with, IIT Delhi Director Raghunath Shevgaonkar, and has even quit before the end of his tenure, according to The Times of India.

“The director was against a cricket academy opening on the IIT premises,” a source was quoted as saying. “He was of the view that the campus should be used only by the students and faculty,” a senior administrative staff said, adding that IITs should not become “an arena for such commercial interests.”

Apparently, Sachin Tendulkar has lashed out at the media reports, stating that he, by no means, wanted the IIT-D land. He has expressed his disappointment on Twitter.

“I am appalled to read the stories that suggest some land has been asked from IIT-D for academy in my name,” Tendulkar penned down on his official account.

“I have not even planned any academy neither do I want any piece of land for any purpose,” he added. “Wish that basic facts are checked from me before publishing such fiction using my name.”

Fans have come out in the support of legendary batsman. However, the question still remains: why has Mr. Raghunath Shevgaonkar quit the academy? Where are the reports coming from?

Fans and public are still quizzed!
