South Africa vs West Indies 2015: A dominating all-round performance from South Africa helped them clinch a 61-run victory over West Indies in the first of the 5-match One-Day International series in Durban on Friday.

Earlier, half-tons from Hashim Amla (66), AB de Villiers (81), and David Miller (70) helped the hosts put up 279-8 in 48.2 overs, before rain interrupted and West Indies were asked to chase down 229 runs in 33 overs.

Despite a strong opening stand from Dwayne Smith (29) and Chris Gayle (41), the touring team got bundled out for just 164 runs in the 29th over. All hail Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir, who bagged 3 wickets apiece to seal an early win for the hosts.

Commenting after the match, de Villiers said: “You got to give a lot of credit to Hashim Amla and the guys who batted around him.  I thought David Miller played much better than me.”

Up next, the two teams now meet in the second rubber at Johannesburg on Sunday.
