Known for his deceiving variations, India’s seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin never fails to surprise the batsmen with his flight and guile. No wonder, he’s one of the smartest bowlers in international cricket right now, but that doesn’t hinder him from adding more weapons to his arsenal.

In a Q&A session from Indian Cricket Team’s Facebook page, Ashwin interacted with his fans as he opened up on his variations. Known to deliver a shrewd carrom ball, top spinner, and the conventional leg-spinner of late, he stunned one and all with plans to expand his armory with left-arm inclusions.

“I have bowled left-arm orthodox and I can bowl left-arm chinaman also,” he said. “I don’t know if I will try it anytime soon but will definitely do it someday. I have shelved it for now to improve my off-spin,” added the 29-year-old, who recently recorded his career-best figures of 4 for 8 in T20 Internationals.

Further divulging on his leg-spin bowling, Ashwin added: “I have been trying (leg-spin) for the last two-three years. And I have been successful on a few occasions. But I am still trying to master it.”

Notably, Ashwin is the only bowler to have a name in the Top 10 of world rankings across all three formats of the sport.
