The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been in talks with various former greats in its quest to shortlist a competent coach for Team India. However, despite the chit-chats, there hasn’t been any sort of corroboration as yet.

As India are touring Bangladesh for a bilateral series later this month, the BCCI felt the urge for rather having an interim coach. Hence, they decided upon propping Ravi Shastri up to the post of coach on a provisional basis.

The legendary batsman had been serving as the Team Director since August last year until his contract with the BCCI terminated by the conclusion of the prestigious World Cup 2015, jointly held in Australia and New Zealand.

Shastri, 53, is known for his influencing power, which is considered his USP by many. According to NDTV Sports, he is slated to kick-start his duty from the upcoming tour to Bangladesh that is scheduled to begin from June 10.

The tour comprises of a one-off Test match and 3 One-Day Internationals.
