Rafael Nadal ‘Confident’ to Get Back to ‘Highest Level’ ahead of Wimbledon

It turned out to be an unusual, dismal clay-court season for Rafael Nadal aka ‘King of Clay’. Highlighted by a quarterfinal exit (lost to Novak Djokovic) at the prestigious Roland Garros 2015, the Spaniard faced untimely exits in most of the tournaments on his favorite surface, losing as many as six matches on the dirt this season – not something that justifies his caliber.

But, with the clay season done and dusted, Nadal has already set his eyes upon the grass-court time of the year. He might not possess the best of the records here, but the 29-year-old seems mighty self-assured to recapture his absconding form.

“I don’t need to deal with (the loss to Djokovic) anymore. It’s in the past,” Nadal was quoted as saying by the official website of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). “I just have to improve my level of tennis, my intensity on the court. If I can do that, then I am confident I can get back to the highest level.”

Nadal has couple of weeks to gear up for the coveted Wimbledon Championships 2015, and so the southpaw opted to travel to Germany for the Mercedes Cup – an ATP 250 event held in Stuttgart from June 6-14.

“Now I get to play two weeks before Wimbledon for the first time, so I hope that helps,” added the southpaw, who has been scheduled to cross the swords with either Marcos Baghdatis or Lukas Rosol in the second round after a first-round bye at the tournament here.
