Quetta Gladiators jumped to the top of point table

Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators both are regarded as the top rated franchise teams in Pakistan Super League and also the most successful teams in the tournament. Peshawar Zalmi won the last PSL title by defeating Gladiators where Quetta Gladiators is the only team that played PSL final twice times so far. So, both of them are potential teams no doubt. Now Quetta Gladiators faced Peshawar Zalmi yesterday where Gladiators won by 6 wickets. As a result, Quetta Gladiators jumped to the top of point table.

However, it was the second meeting between two teams Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing season where earlier in 1st March, 2018 they faced for the first time in the season. There Zalmi took an easy victory over Gladiators by five wickets. So, it seems that last match was a revenge for Quetta Gladiators so far.

The journey of both Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in the season of PSL was not good. Both stumbled at the beginning but later, they turned around where in that case Gladiators can be called as the most successful between them.

Quetta Gladiators has played total eight matches in the season of PSL 2018 and won highest five times so far. So, with 10 points they are in top position on the point table. On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi which is the defending champion played same eight matches here but won only three times so far. Due to the reason, they are in 5th position on the point table.

At Dubai International Cricket Stadium the 23rd match of the tournament staged in 10th March, 2018 where Peshawar Zalmi lost the toss and came to bat first. Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal started the innings for Zalmi but in 5 runs Akmal was gone by making golden duck. Later, Hafeez and Smith made a partnership that added almost 55 runs when Smith was gone scoring 49 runs highest so far. Hafeez and Wessels made 2nd partnership but it did not last long. With individual 31 runs Hafeez was gone as well. Wessels also scored 31 runs and captain Sammy scored 36 runs so far. Both Sammy and Wessels remained not out. So, at the end of 20 overs Peshawar Zalmi scored 157 runs by losing five wickets so far.

Later Quetta Gladiators came to chase the score and in 19.2 overs, they finsihed the chase successfully. They lost fiur wickets where Sarfraz Ahmed scored unbeaten 45 runs so far. He got player of the match later.
