Proteas won ODI series against New Zealand

South Africa cricket team is currently visiting New Zealand and according to the international schedule, they have just completed an ODI series which consisted of five match. The inaugural match was won by South Africa and next one was won by the Black Caps. Again 3rd match was won by Proteas and 4th one was won by Black Caps. So, the series became challenging and equal position made the following ODI as the final match. In the final, Proteas won by six wickets where Black Caps got packet by scoring just 149 runs in 41.1 overs. In return, Proteas reached the target by losing four wickets and in the meantime, they played 32.2 overs. By winning the final ODI, they also won the ODI series by 3 – 2. And another great news has added to Proteas account that they moved to the top of ICC ODI cricket ranking through the series victory.

Earlier yesterday at Eden Park, Auckland, Proteas won the toss and chose to field. So, New Zealand opened with Guptill and Brownlie. Guptill made 180 runs unbeaten in last match against the same opponent but yesterday, his bat did not shine. he scored just four runs by playin 17 balls and back to the pavilion. Top orders of Black Caps were totally failed in the match where the highest scored 32 was from the lower order player Grandhomme. Most of the players could not make it to the double figure runs. As a result, the became all out by scoring 149 runs so far. Proteas bowlers were too good yesterday Rabada took highest three wickets so far.

149 runs were easy enough to South Africa batsmen and they started their innings with de Kock and Amla. Amla was completely flop in the series as well as in the last match but Kock was so dim yesterday. Both of them got out with 8 and 6 runs so far. Losing three wickets within 48 runs, the Proteas started to make runs carefully. Finally, Du Plessis, Villiers and Miller led the team to victory as well as win the series too.

So, after finishing the ODI series, Proteas are heading towards the Test series against the same opponent this time. And the long format competition between South Africa and New Zealand will start in next 8th March, 2017.
