Pietersen shines: Quetta chased a ton of runs successfully against Lahore

After defeating against Islamabad and next match finished with no result against Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators has finally seen a victory over Lahore Qalandars. They took an easy victory against Qalandars due to their top order Kevin Pietersen. Pietersen has seen many bad time in this ongoing tournament and could not able to score any significant rate but in last match against Lahore Qalandars at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, his bat was shining till the last. Through Pietersen, Quetta chased the ton of runs successfully and picked an easy victory where Lahore presented 200 runs in front of them which nearly almost impossible to chase. However, excluding this match, Quetta  and Lahore both teams played total four matches where Quetta and Lahore both won twice times. But, considering the current performance, Quetta was regarded as the favourite. Because, Quetta possessed the most strong batting line up in this tournament but their bowling line up was comparatively poor. So, took the chance by Lahore, they scored 200 runs in selected twenty overs but finally could not save the match.

In the first match of 18th February, 2017, Quetta chose to bowl by winning the toss but Roy and Fakhar Zaman made a tremendous start and added 77 runs in 6.4 overs. Roy was out with 51 runs which was the highest runs for Lahore. Later, Akmal came up but could not stay too long but scored just 17 runs. While playing with Rizwan, Fakhar was out by scoring 47 runs so far. Delport and Rizwan finished the rest overs of the innings. At the end, Lahore Qalandars lost only three wickets and presented a ton of runs in front of the opponent team. All bowlers of Quetta were flop in that day or it could perhaps the crease turned to a batting favoured. Came to chase suc big score, Quetta stumbled in 13 runs when Saad Nasim was out. In 22 team runs, Shehzad was gone. Only Pietersen played bravely and scored 88 runs in just 42 balls. He colored his innings with three 4’s and eight 6’s. Rossouw stayed for quite long with Pietersen and after his departure, Sarfraz was the best companion of him. Sarfraz scored 45 runs in the match. Pietersen remained unbeaten and announced as the player of the match.

Through this victory, Quetta Gladiators moved to the top of the point table where Lahore Qalandars is placed on the last position.
