Perth Scorchers moved to the BBL 06 final by defeating Melbourne Stars

Finally Perth Scorchers has come to the spotlight again by winning the first semi final against Melbourne Stars. However, Stars started the BBL 06 season as one of the two most favourite team but could not make it to the final. They were the finalist of the last season of this Australian domestic league and became runner up. Stars had the most strongest batting line up but that did not help them much. In the first semi final of the ongoing BBL tournament, Stars failed to land their best players which are with the national team right now. So, they became weaker and finally lost. On the other hand, Perth Scorchers has come to the final after couple of years. They are regarded as the most successful team in BBL which already won twice BBL trophy consecutively. Last season of BBL, they finished their tour by facing defeat in semi final but this time, the calculation is changed. They have successfully qualified for final and their opponent will be the winner of the second semi final.

Earlier at the evening, Perth Scorchers won the toss and came to field first. Melbourne Stars failed to make any scores by their two openers where they both got out within 0 runs and lost their 3rd wickets in 21 runs so far. Quiney, Wright and Pietersen could not make stand in front of Perth bowlers. Gotch scored highest 48 runs and no players could come a nearby score. As a result, at the end of 20 overs, they added total 136 runs by losing 8 wickets so far. Perth bowls very well in that day where Johnson took highest three wickets.

136 runs was so poor in front of Perth batsmen but also they lost their first wickets when the team score was only 10. But later, Whiteman and Marsh took the lead where Marsh remained unbeaten and scored 56 runs so far. They reached the given target by losing just three wickets in 16.5 overs. So, Perth won the match by seven wickets. Johnson was announced as the player of the match due to his brilliant bowling spell.

In the second semi final, Sydney Sixers will play against Brisbane Heat in 25th January, 2017 and the match will be hosted at the Gabba.
