Pakistan fast-bowler Junaid Khan is considering playing for England after continued ignorance from the One-Day International (ODI) squad. The 26-year-old was snubbed from Pakistan’s 15-man side for the upcoming series involving England and Ireland.

Junaid, who has taken 78 wickets in 52 ODIs played so far, hasn’t featured in a 50-over contest since May 2015, said that he has been left with no option but to represent England, where half of his family members are located.

“I have no option but to consider playing for England now,” the Matra-native told Dawn News. “Half of my family resides in England, but I kept Pakistan as my priority.”

The southpaw speedster explained that he even had a chance to swap to England when he caught many eyes during a country stint back in 2013, but eventually opted not to. “I had the opportunity to play for England in 2013 after my outstanding performances in county cricket, but I rejected it.”

Pakistan are scheduled to play two ODIs against Ireland from August 18-20, before locking horns with England in a five-match series from August 24-September 4.
