After two years, a new season of Asia Cup has come and it is already started in United Arab Emirates. This time the tournament is known as Unimoni Asia Cup which is mainly an ODI competition. It is the 14th edition of the tournament and Asia Cup used to stage once in every two years. Pakistan is the full member of Asian Cricket Council and Hong Kong has also joined at the competition by winning 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier. Pakistan and Hong Kong are placed into group A along with defending champion India. The inaugural match took place between Pakistan and Hong Kong in 16th September, 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Pakistan won by 8 wickets against Hong Kong in the first match.

It was a One Day International competition and also a day/ night match. Hong Kong won the toss and decided to bat first. By came to bat first team Hong Kong scored only 116 runs and lost all wickets. In return, Pakistan lost two wickets and reached the destination in just 23.4 overs.

Nizakat Khan and captain Anshuman Rath started to bat for the team Hong Kong. Openers added 17 runs jointly where Nizakat Khan gone first. He scored 13 runs so far. Captain Rath scored 19 runs totally. Later, Babar Hayat came with Carter. They added 7 and 2 runs respectively. Shah played a little bit well and scored 26 runs where Aizaz Khan scored highest 27 runs in the match. Three players were gone with empty handed. Finally Ehsan and Nadeem scored 9 runs each. So, in 37.1 overs team Hong Kong lost all wickets and in the meantime they scored 116 runs so far. Usman Khan took three wickets where Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan took two wickets each for the Green Shirts.

Imam and Fakhar Zaman started to bat for the Pakistan. The chasing score was so poor and they playedeasily. Openers added 41 runs where Fakhar Zaman was gone scoring 24 runs. He faced 27 balls so far.Later, Babar Azam came and made partnership with Imam. Imam remained not out but Babar Azam was gone with 33 runs. Imam made a fifty there where Shoaib Malik remained not out with 9 runs so far. In 23.4 overs team Pakistan scored 120 runs and lost two wickets. Ehsan Khan took two wickets for Hong Kong. Usman Khan was announced as the player of the match later.
