Team Pakistan have suffered an early setback ahead of their quarterfinal clash against co-hosts Australia after their star fast-bowler Mohammad Irfan was ruled out of the ongoing World Cup 2015.

According to a release by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Irfan is struggling with a stress fracture in the pelvis, as confirmed by an MRI reported conducted on Monday.

Irfan, 32, was Pakistan’s leading pacer in their league matches, but was compelled to miss the final encounter against Ireland (won by 7 wickets) for being in a bad shape.

The PCB will only announce a replacement if Pakistan clear the Australia hurdle in the third quarterfinal clash in Adelaide on March 20.

Irfan, now, joins all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez and fast-bowler Junaid Khan in Pakistan’s injury list.
