Australia started to bat at Melbourne where Khawaja and Warner were the two openers. But, unfortunately, Warner missed his part and got out so early by scoring just 16 runs. later, Khawaja also took wrong steps and gave catch to Sharjeel Khan. In the following next ball, Marsh was out with his zero run. But, their skipper Smith played strongly and scored highest 60 runs for the team. At last, they made a poor score 220 runs by left none wickets. Basically, Pakistani bowlers did their job very well where Mohammad Amir was their leading wicket taker. He took three wickets. Beside him, Junaid Khan and Imad Wasim took two wickets each.

220 runs is regarded as the poor score nowadays which used to easy to chase. But for the Green Shirts, they are always regarded as the most unpredictable team where they have the ability to win some matches which seems to be the impossible. Like this, they can also lose the easy match. So, 220 runs was not so poor for Pakistan where their opponent was Australia which is considered the most balanced team and proved best in all three cases like batting, bowling and fielding.

However, Pakistan started the match pretty well and since the beginning of the match, they dominated their opponent bowlers. Finally, they reached the given target by losing four wickets.

Through this victory, Pakistan finally made balance in the ongoing ODI series against Australia by 1 – 1. They have still three more ODI matches ahead where their next match will start in 19th January, 2017 at Perth.
