Pakistan vs New Zealand — Riding on their sublime form, Pakistan put up a dominating performance to thrash New Zealand by 248 runs in the first encounter of the 3-match Test series in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

Chasing a massive total of 480 runs, New Zealand batsmen could not get any nearer to the score, as they were bundled out for 231 runs in the fourth innings of the match.

Except Ish Sodhi (63), not other batsmen from the touring side pulled their socks up to put up a fight and come in the rescue of New Zealand.

“(It was) A big learning experience for us, some positives. Tom Latham played very well and the way, sh Sodhi, batted in the second innings was encouraging, but we were well beaten, plenty to do ahead of the second Test,” New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum was quoted as saying by CricBuzz.

“We didn’t play their spinners well, a lot to learn ahead of the second Test, a bit of luck with the toss will be handy as well,” he added further.

Up next, New Zealand will look to level the honours when the two teams lock horns in the second Test match from November 17 in Dubai.
