New Zealand have seemed to learnt lessons from their loss in the first Test match, as the visitors have gotten off to a strong start on the first day of the second encounter in Dubai on Monday.

Led by an unbeaten century from opener Tom Latham (137), New Zealand lost just 3 wickets as they posted 243-3 before stumps on Day 1.

New Zealand openers – Tom Latham and Brendon McCullum – joined 77 runs for the first wicket, before the latter fell for (43) after trying to pull a shortish delivery around the off-stump.

Kane Williamson gave away the stumps to off-spinner Zulfiqar Babar, contributing to the scoreboard with a gritty 32-run knock.

Even Ross Taylor (23) could not recuperate his form, giving away his wicket to leg-spinner Yasir Shah. Corey Anderson (7), then, walked into the middle and ensured that the tourists do not suffer any further causality.

For Pakistan, Ehsan Adil, Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah earned a wicket apiece.
