New Zealand won 1st ODI against England

New Zealand and England is recently finished a complete series with Australia which was basically a T20I series named Trans Tasman Tri Series. In the series, England ruled out from the group stage. New Zealand and Australia qualified for final and finally Australia won the series by defeating New Zealand considering D/L method. Since earlier, England is in tight schedule. They visited Australia to take part in Ashes series. After that they played a ODI series against Australia and won the series as well. Now, they are travelling new Zealand where they are scheduled to play a ODI and a Test series. The competition started with ODI series and New Zealand won 1st ODI against England.

New Zealand won 1st ODI against England

England and New Zealand both are in almost same ranked in ICC World ranking where New Zealand is in 4th position and England is in 3rd position on the point table. So, their competition seems much competitive than the others. As local team, New Zealand would get much benefit in the series.

However, the inaugural ODI match between New Zealand and England taken place in 25th February, 2018 and it was hosted at Seddon Park, Hamilton. It was a historic match where New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first against England. So, at Hamilton England came to open their innings. In the day/ night match England played full 50 overs and scored 284 runs. They lost eight wickets where Mitchell Santner took two wickets for Black Caps. However, for England Jos Buttler scored highest 79 runs in 65 balls.

Later, New Zealand came to chase 284 runs in 50 overs. They had to play till the last over to get the victory. In 49.2 overs Black Caps reached the destination. Their player Ross Taylor scored an amazing century. He scored 113 runs in 116 balls. Through the score, he touched the 7,000 runs milestone in his ODI career. New Zealand lost total seven wickets to make the chase successful. Ben Stokes took only two wickets for England. Besides, in the match Chris Woakes took his 100th wicket in ODI career. Ross Taylor was the player of the match due to his brilliant innings.

Opening partnership of Black Caps were not good where Guptill scored 13 runs and Munro scored 6 runs only. Later captain Williamson scored 8 runs for the team. Taylor and Latham led the team to victory where Latham scored 79 runs so far. Tom Latham scored his 2,000 ODI runs through the match.
