Amidst the speculations claiming a ‘rift’ in the Indian dressing room between skipper MS Dhoni and his deputy Virat Kohli following their 1-2 loss to Bangladesh in the 3-match ODI series recently, fast-bowler Mohammed Shami assured that the rumours are purely erroneous.

“That the team is divided and the team is not performing – there is no truth in these things. I have shared the dressing room with all of them including Virat and Mahi Bhai,” Shami was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

The 25-year-old, who is nursing a knee injury since a long time, further requested the media to not pay heed to such “baseless” stories.

“I never felt anything like that. If media is making an issue then it is wrong. I request media not to highlight these baseless stories. This only divides the team, and affects team’s and players’ performance.”

This statement comes just days after Kohli censured improper decision making as the reason for India’s first-ever series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh.
