Misbah-ul-Haq Hints Saeed Ajmal May Miss Out on World Cup Participation

Pakistan gained an early impetus ahead of the World Cup 2015 after their star bowler Saeed Ajmal was cleared of ‘chucking’ by the International Cricket Council, and was consequently allowed to participate in the sport’s mega event.

However, captain Misbah-ul-Haq hinted that Ajmal might now be able to make the cut due to lack of match practice.

“You never know, there are a lot of ifs and buts,” an uncertain Misbah was quoted as per saying by The Nation. “The main concern is that he hasn’t played any cricket yet,” he added.

“Let’s see how it goes in the next week because the team is already announced and everybody is here so I can’t just say anything about that.”

Ajmal’s absence in Pakistan’s first warm-up encounter against Bangladesh further questioned his odds of making into the team – at least for the first few games.

Up next, Pakistan are scheduled to lock horns with England in the second practice match before crossing the swords with arch-rivals India on February 15.
