Melbourne Stars were defeated against Strikers in BBL

Melbourne Stars can be regarded as the top flight in Australian Big Bash league competition but due to bad luck they yet to touch the title of BBL. They have most balanced team currently which consists of top rated batsmen and bowlers. But in current season, they are passing very bad time. They were defeated and defeated one after another. Now in the last match, Melbourne Stars were defeated against Strikers in BBL. Including the last match, Melbourne Stars played total five matches in the season of BBL and all five times, they were defeated.

On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers which franchise team demoted to the 3rd position on the point table by losing against Hobart Hurricanes, they have reclaimed the top position on the point table by winning against Melbourne Stars.

The match between Stars and Strikers was placed in 9th January, 2018. It was the 23rd match of the tournament and 3rd match of round six. The match was taken place at Adelaide Oval where Melbourne Stars won the toss and decided to bat first. By coming bat Stars scored 151 runs in selected 20 overs. They lost total six wickets. On the other hand Adelaide Strikers scored 152 runs by losing just two wickets in 18.4 overs. So, Strikers won by eight wickets and jumped to the top position so far.

Stoinis and Dunk started to bat for Stars. Unfortunately in 2 runs Dunk was gone who scored just 1 run. Pietersen was gone with 5 runs and Handscomb scored 1 run so far. By losing top three wickets early, team Stars was in pressure when Stoinis and Maxwell played a bit well. Stoinis scored 39 runs and Maxwell scored 60 runs so far. Gotch scored 14 runs and captain Hastings scored 17 runs so far. Finally losing six wickets Melbourne Stars scored 151 runs in 20 overs. Strikers used five bowlers and all of them took one wickets each for the team.

However, came to chase 151 runs Adelaide Strikers did not feel any pressure but played naturally. Openers Carey and Weatherald made 50 runs partnership where Weatherald was gone with 18 runs. Later, skipper Head and Carey started jointly. Head was gone by scoring 53 runs. Carey and Ingram led the team to a wonderful victory. In 18.4 overs, they achieved it. Stars used total seven bowlers to make breakthrough but no one did able to to that. Maxwell and Stoinis took one wicket each for Melbourne Stars.
