Melbourne Stars got their 1st victory in BBL

Melbourne Stars which is one of the most favourite contender in Australian domestic T20 league competition named Big Bash League or simply BBL. The 7th season of BBL is going on and already greater half season has passed successfully. But for Melbourne Stars, they are passing very bad season this time. They are standing on the last position on the BBL point table still now. But in their last match which was against Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars got their 1st victory in BBL 2017/18. They beat Melbourne Renegades by 23 runs.

It was their second head to head battle in ongoing season of Big Bash where in first meeting which was staged in 6th January, 2018 Renegades destroyed Stars by six wickets. So, it can be counted as a revenge of Stars.

However, including the last match, it was the 6th match of Melbourne Stars in BBL 2017/18. Among them they just managed one victory. So, they are in last position on the point table. Considering Renegades, they are in good position indeed. They have played total seven matches in the season already and managed four victories which placed them on the 3rd position.

The match between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades was taken place in 12th January, 2018 and Etihad Stadium, Melbourne was the host arena. In the match, Melbourne Renegades won the toss and let Stars to bat first which was their prime mistake. Stars scored 167 runs in 20 overs where Kevin Pietersen scored highest 74 runs. In the whole season, Pietersen was flopp but in the day, he was just amazing. In return, came to chase the score Renegades finished their innings by scoring 144 runs.

Melbourne Stars stumbled at the beginning of the innings when in 2 runs opener Dunk was gone. Later, Handscomb and Pietersen played well and added 110 runs jointly. Handscomb scored 41 runs and Pietersen scored 74 runs so far. Later, Maxwell and Gotch tried a bit but Gotch was out. So, finally with Faulkner, Maxwell ended their innings successfully. Maxwell scored 31 runs and Faulkner scored 10 runs and remained not out.

Later, Melbourne Renegades came to chase the score but since the beginning they could not make any long bond but lost wickets within a regular gap. In the meantime, Ludeman scored 13 runs, Short scored 16 runs, Bravo scored highest 26 runs and rest players also added few more but not enough to defeat Stars. Finally, losing nine wickets, they stopped their innings scoring 144 runs. So, they were lost by 23 runs against Melbourne Stars.
