Melbourne Stars faced 2nd defeat in BBL

Melbourne Stars is one of the most balanced team in Big Bash League competition where in the new season of Big Bash, they faced some unfortunate defeats against their old rivals. Melbourne Stars can be regarded as one of the most successful team where in every season of BBL since the beginning they at least made it to the semi final. Though, they yet to touch the title of BBL but played five semi finals and once they were runner up. But in the ongoing season of KFC Big Bash, Melbourne Stars faced 2nd defeat in BBL and this time their opponent was the defending champion Perth Scorchers.

Perth Scorchers claimed their two consecutive victory in the season of KFC Big Bash where their first prey was Sydney Sixers.

The match between Scorchers and Stars were taken place in 26th December, 2017 and WACA Ground was the host ground. In the match, Melbourne Stars won the toss and decided to field first. Basically, first bowling team used to win the match in most of the cases in the season of BBL and so, Stars wanted to take the chance and let Scorchers to bat first. Scorchers scored 142 runs by losing six wickets in 20 overs where Hilton Cartwright from Scorchers scored highest 58 runs in 53 balls.. The score was not sufficient to win but the bowlers of Scorchers maintained proper line and length and so, they did able to tie the opponent innings earlier. In 129 runs Melbourne Stars finished their innings and so, they faced their second defeat in the season by 13 runs. James Faulkner scored highest 35 runs for Stars.

Bosisto and Klinger were the two openers of Scorchers who opened the innings. But in nine runs both of them were gone. When team score was just 10, top three wickets were gone unfortunately. Later, Cartwright and skipper Voges made a partnership that added more than 80 runs and took the team ahead. Cartwright scored highest 58 runs where skipper Voges scored 35 runs so far. Afgar also played well and remained unbeaten with 33 runs. Finally in 20 overs, Perth Scorchers lost six wickets and presented 142 runs target in front of Stars. Jame Faulkner took highest two wickets for Stars.

Though, the target was not so big but for Stars it was hard to chase that because their batsmen failed to did their job properly. They had number of talented T20 experts like Dunk, Wright, Handscomb, Maxwell, Stoinis and some more players but all of them were failed in the day. Finally, in 20 overs the team finished with 129 runs. They lost total eight wickets. Tye took highest five wickets for Scorchers.
