Melbourne Renegades won by 8 wickets

Melbourne Renegades managed their 3rd victory in current edition of KFC BBL 2017/18 though in their 3rd match, they faced their first defeat in the season. Then their opponent was the current champion Perth Scorchers. But, today they have played against the current runner up Sydney Sixers. Melbourne Renegades won by 8 wickets in the match.

Sydney Sixers lost the toss and so, they had no other way but Renegades let them bat first. So, coming to bat Sydney Sixers scored 111 runs in 20 overs. They lost eight wickets where their top scorer was Johan Botha who scored 32 runs and remained not out. On the other hand, came to chase such poor score, by losing two wickets Melbourne Renegades reached the destination in 15.3 overs. Aaron Finch was the highest scorer for Renegades who scored 51 runs.

It was the fifth match of Sydney Sixers in the running season of Australian league competition but unfortunately they yet to taste any victory here. They lost all five matches and so, they are standing on the 7th position on the point table. However, it was their first head to head battle against Renegades in the season and in their first meeting, they faced a shameful defeat.

The match between Sixers and Renegades were taken place in 3rd January, 2018 and GMHBA Stadium, Geelong was the host venue. Greg Davidson and Simon Fry were the two field umpires of the game. In the match, for Sydney Sixers, Mickey Edwards made his T20 debut.

Jason Roy and Nevill came to open the innings for Sixers. As usual their performance were very bad since the beginning of the season. They always failed to make a good start and earlier today, it was the same. Roy scored 5 runs and Nevill scored a 0. Maddinson and Silk tried to make a partnership where Maddinson scored 24 runs and Silk scored 16 runs so far. Billings added 22 runs and captain Botha added 32 runs to the scoreboard. So, in 20 overs, their innings finished with 111 runs by losing eight wickets. Bravo took three wickets and Mohammad Nabi took two wickets for Renegades.

Later, Renegades came to chase but in two runs their one opener was gone. It was Harris who scored 1 run. Back then Sixers started to hope for winning the match but in the 1st wicket partnership between Finch and White, they destroyed opponent bowlers. Finch scored 51 runs and White remained not out with 49 runs. They lost just two wickets and claimed another victory.
