Melbourne Renegades kept hope alive by winning last group stage match

Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat played their last group stage match in ongoing Big Bash League 2016/17. However, Brisbane Heat already confirmed their position in next semi final round as one of four teams. So, they played their last match to strengthen their position. They played total eight match and won five of them. But,. Melbourne Renegades won total four matches out of eight. Before winning their last match against Heat, they were outnumbered. But, through the victory in yesterday, Renegades kept hope alive to move to the semi final. Now, they are standing in fourth position on BBL point table. But, they yet to confirm their place in next round. There will be some calculation of upcoming two matches in group stage.

Melbourne Renegades kept hope alive by winning last group stage match

Earlier yesterday, Melbourne Renegades started their match against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba which was the home venue of Heat. Besides, as previous performance, Heat was regarded as the favourite. If they could manage victory, Renegades could not make it hope. But, Renegades showed some amazing performance yesterday. Heat won the toss and came to field. After missing couple of matches, Finch played with the Renegades yesterday and played the major role. Came to bat, Renegades made a great start where their openers added almost 106 runs to the scoreboard within just 9.1 overs and then Harris got out with his 48 runs. Later, Finch made a shot but caught by Labuschagne. By then, Fich scored 71 runs by playing 35 balls. After fallen two openers, rest players failed to make a longer innings where Ferguson scored 35 runs and remained not out. At the end, they scored 199 runs by losing five wickets so far.

199 runs was large enough to beat any teams but Brisbane Heat had the previous experiences to chase high score. Besides, McCullum played yesterday where he missed last match against Stars. Chasing such score, Heat lost 1st wickets Peirson in 14 runs. But later, McCullum and Heazlett took the team to 85 runs and then Heazlett got out. McCullum scored highest 64 runs for the team. If he could stay a bit longer, then his team managed victory. Their last four players could not make any runs. However, they got all out by scoring 198 runs by playing 19.5 balls. The match was so dramatic. It was only matter of time that Heat got victory but in the meantime they lost all wickets. They still had one ball remaining which enough to get victory. So, finally Renegades got victory by just one runs and could possibly move to the semi final.
