Following a stellar show at the recently-concluded World Cup 2015, Martin Guptill has earned a recall for New Zealand’s forthcoming tour to England that involves 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and a one-off T20I.

Guptill had been dropped from the Test squad following a dismal show against England in 2013, and failed to make it through thereafter. However, the surge in his form compelled the selectors to select incorporate him into the squad again.

Justifying Guptill’s selection, New Zealand coach and selector Mike Hesson said: “Martin (Guptill) is a classically-styled batsman and there’s really no reason why he can’t be as influential in the longer game as he is in the short.”

The kiwis are scheduled to feature in a couple of warm-up matches against Somerset and Worcester before the actual contest kicks-off from May 21 at Lord’s.

Test Squad: Brendon McCullum (C), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Mark Craig, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Luke Ronchi, Hamish Rutherford, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, and Kane Williamson.

ODI, T20I Squad: Brendon McCullum (C), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Grant Elliott, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Mitchell McClenaghan, Nathan McCullum, Adam Milne, Luke Ronchi, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, and Kane Williamson.
