Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced the squad for the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe. But Lasith Malinga was in danger of being dropped from the team! Because he was being investigated for called Sri Lankan sports minister Daisyri Jayasekar as a monkey.

Malinga has proven guilty of the investigation. Therefore, six months from all forms of cricket have been banned, Sri Lanka pacer. The next one-day match has been penalized with 50 percent match fee.

According to the SLC’s investigation committee on Tuesday, Malinga broke the Code of Conduct. He confessed his mistake by facing the investigation. The pacer, who also officially apologized, Hewas initially banned for one year. Later, the punishment was reduced. Malinga is now banned for six months.

The punishment will be postponed for 6 months. Malinga is not allowed to play in this period. Hopefully, he is not excluded from the 13-member squad announced against Zimbabwe.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board said in a statement that Malinga was banned for one year because of being proved guilty. The punishment for the sentence has been reduced by six months (but in the next six months the sentence will increase!) Besides, 50 percent match fees have been penalized for the next one-day internationals.

In fact, Sri Lanka’s performance in the last Champions Trophy was not rosy. It was confirmed by the departure of the group. At that time, the country’s Sports Minister Jayashekera had severely criticized the cricketers. The minister claims that more than 25 percent of the fat in most Sri Lankan cricketers is in the body. Malinga was targeted! Sri Lanka’s pace bowler Muralidaran dismissed the minister as a monkey while responding to strong language.
