Australia scored just 300 runs in their first innings with the help of Smith’s century where Warner and Wade also scored a brilliant fifty each. 300 runs in first innings was almost mere in front of India because, India is the number one Test team now and they also have the strongest batting line up. Besides, the match is hosted at India and so, they are regarded as the favourite and will receive more confidence. If we look to the last match, team India scored more than 600 runs in their first innings. In the 3rd Test, Aussi also scored almost 450 runs which was also bit higher but not enough for India and in that case, 300 runs was almost poor. But, team Australia was ready to fight and they have successfully done their job by packeting India within 332 runs. And Nathan Lyon played the most important role by knocking down Indian innings and he has taken total five wickets highest.

Rahul and Vijay as usual started India innings but the partnership was broken so early in 21 runs when Vijay was gone by Hazlewood. But in the second wicket partnership with Pujara, both of them claimed fifty where Rahul was out by Cummins and Pujara was gone by Lyon. Pujara was the first victim of Lyon. Later, Lyon stroke again and took Rahane and later Nair. Following Ashwin was also being lbw by Lyon. Finally, With Kuldeep Yadav, Lyon took his fifth wickets in one innings so far.

Most of the players of India did participate in the first innings where Jadeja scored highest 63 runs. Though, no one could make any longer innings but they expanded their innings to 332 runs. Total three players named Rahul, Pujara and Jadeja scored fifty runs each. On the other hand, Hazlewood took one wickets where Cummins took three wickets. O’Keefe also took a wicket so far. Before the end of first session of the 3rd day, team India was finished their first innings with just 32 runs lead.

However, in the 3rd day of the match, the field has already turned to bowling favour and it would be hard for both teams to score runs in the second innings. If team Australia could lead more than 250 runs in 2nd innings, they could win the match.
