Lankan captain Suspended after defeats Vs South Africa

Main Captain Angelo Mathews is fighting with the injury. Sri Lankan skipper  could not play the first match with South Africa.  After the Oval match, Sri Lanka lost to the acting captain Upul Tharanga. The ICC has banned Tharanga for two matches due to slow over rate.

Sri Lanka have taken more than four hours to bowl 50 overs. The deadline for the end of the innings is three and a half hours. The ICC said in the statement yesterday that the hearing was not required because Tharanga accepted the responsibility.

Sri Lanka’s next match in the Champions Trophy on 8 June against India. If Mathews can not play, then Sri Lanka will play in the match led by Dinesh Chandimal. But Chandimal’s hope, Matthews will recover before that match.
