Kumar Sangakkara could not save Karachi Kings against Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars made another victory and this time their opponent was Karachi Kings. In 16th February, 2017 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, this two teams faced against each other where Lahore losing the toss and came to bat. In selected 20 overs, they scored 179 runs by destroying Kings bowlers almost by losing eight wickets. In return, Kings was almost close to the destination but finally could not meet the target. They scored 172 runs in 20 overs and also lost their eight wickets. So, they faced their 3rd consecutive lost in this ongoing edition of Pakistan Super League 2017. However, Lahore Qalandars also a below ranked team in PSL competition and managed just two victory including this one out of four matches. But, Kings was much poorer than Qalandars. Though, in the match, former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara scored a brilliant fifty for Kings but that could not save Kings from the disaster.

In last 16th February, 2017 Lahore started to play against Karachi Kings at Sharjah where Karachi won the toss and chose to field first. That was the 8th match of the ongoing PSL 2 tournament where Lahore started to bat. When the team score was just 12, McCullum got out with his individual 0 runs. Later, another opener Roy made a partnership Fakhar Zaman and their partnership was broken by Sohail Khan when Roy was out with 26 runs so far.

Later, Umar Akmal came up and started to make company with Fakhar Zaman. Fakhar scored highest 56 runs for the team. Basically, most of the players scored at least two figure runs but they could not play longer innings. At the end of the complete twenty overs, Lahore scored 179 runs by losing eight wickets so far. Mir, Sohail and Amir took highest two wickets each.

179 runs was big enough to chase but Karachi had plenty of players like Gayle, Babar and Sangakkara. So, they could do anything within short time. But, Gayle and Babar were out so early with individual 5 and 9 runs respectively. Sangakkara stood strong and fought well against Lahore bowlers. He scored highest 65 runs in 45 balls and his best companion was Shoaib Malik who scored 39 runs so far. But, their partnership could not save the match as well. They finished the 20 overs by scoring 172 runs with 2 wickets left.
