Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings have come to face against each other after long time. Due to not taking part in last two seasons of Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings could not face any teams in IPL for last two seasons. On the other side, Kings XI Punjab is a regular competitor in IPL. Besides, both teams are the founding member of IPL and started the competition in 2008. Kings XI Punjab has no good record in IPL but Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful team in the tournament. They won the title twice times so far. Now, in the 11th season this two oldest member of IPL played against each other. In the match, Kings XI Punjab won by 4 runs.

Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings both started the tournament in the season with victory. Two of them already played three matches each in the tournament where both of them won twice times including the last match. It was the 12th match of the tournament.

The match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings was taken place in 15th April, 2018 and this time Kings XI Punjab played the match at their home venue. Obviously next head to head battle will take place at the home venue of CSK. The home venue of KXIP is Punjab Cricket Association Stadium which is located at Mohali.

In the match, the regular strategy was broken. Earlier the first bowling team in IPL used to win the match but this time, KXIP changed it. They bat first and CSK failed to chase the score.

At Mohali in 15th April Chennai Super Kings won the toss and like before they taken the bowl first. So, Kings XI Punjab came to open the match with bat. By a tremendous batting of Windies star Chris Gayle, KXIP did present a big score in front of CSK. Gayle scored 63 runs in 33 balls.

Besides, Rahul scored 37 runs, Agarwal scored 30 runs and Nair scored 29 runs for the team Kings XI Punjab. By playing 20 overs KXIP lost seven wickets so far. Thakur and Tahir took two wickets each for the team CSK.

So, CSK came to chase 197 runs which was presented by KXIP earlier. They tried well where MS Dhoni scored unbeaten 79 runs in 44 balls. But he could not save the match. In 20 overs CSK scored 193 runs. Only for 4 runs they faced defeat against Kings XI Punjab. They lost total five wickets by chasing the score. Andrew Tye took two wickets for KXIP.
