Kings XI Punjab is one of the founding franchise team in Indian Premier League or IPL but they yet to touch any title of it. In every season since the beginning in 2008, they went too close to the title but finally ruled out from the competition. In the season, it seems they would face same fate. Though, till now their statistics are inspiring. They have played eight matches in the season of IPL and won five times so far. In their last match, they faced Mumbai Indians where the defending champion, MI got a victory. So, Kings XI Punjab faced defeat 3rd times in IPL 11.

Mumbai Indians can be examined as the most successful team which won highest three titles of Indian Premier League. In the season, they are not their best form. They hardly manage couple of victories in the season. By playing nine matches in the season, MI won three times so far. It was the first match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab in the season of IPL where at the first meeting, Mumbai Indians got the victory.

At Holkar Cricket Stadium which is located in Indore and it is the home venue of Kings XI Punjab. In the match, the guest team claimed the victory. In 4th May, 2018 the match was executed where the guest team MI won the toss and decided to bowl first. It seems that the local team did bat well and also presented a handsome score in front of the guest team. But, Mumbai Indians impressively chased the score.

KL Rahul and Chris Gayle started the innings for KXIP. Openers added 54 runs when Rahul was gone with 24 runs. Gayle scored 50 runs in 40 balls. Rest players did not score big but added a decent score to the board. As a result, KXIP which was the local team scored 174 runs by losing six wickets in 20 overs. No bowlers of Mumbai Indians bowled special but five of them took one wicket each for the team MI.

Later, Yadav and Lewis started to chase for the team MI. Yadav scored 57 runs and Lewis scored 10 runs only. Ishan Kishan scored 25 runs and Pandya scored 23 runs so far. Finally by losing four wickets in 120 runs, captain Sharma and Pandya led the team to victory with 24 and 31 runs respectively. Team Mumbai had to play 19 overs in the match to take the victory. Mujeed took two wickets for KXIP.
