Lamenting his snub from England cricket team, Kevin Pietersen touted his exclusion from the Ashes squad as “ridiculous” after his side went through a humiliating loss to arch-rivals Australia in the second Test at the Lord’s.

The hosts squandered an early 1-0 lead following a 405-run defeat that saw the batting line-up – especially the top order – appear oblivious. Consequently, the 35-year-old Pietersen took it to his official Twitter account to notify his urge to don the whites again.

Deep in thought right now… ridiculous that I’m lying on a beach when I should be in UK prepping for the 3rd Test. So silly really! Sad! (sic),” he tweeted.

Batting as well as ever & the team have huge issues with top order! What a waste, just lying on a beach! I wish I could help! So, so, so, so silly,” another tweet followed.

Pietersen has been dormant in the longest format of the game since the last year-and-a-half after being at loggerheads with the England and Wales Cricket Board over certain issues, which seem yet to be resolved!
