Karachi Kings defeated Islamabad United by D/L method

Islamabad United which is the defending champion of Pakistan Super League and started the new season of PSL 2 so well but unfortunately they faced an unexpected defeat against the most lower ranked team in this tournament Karachi Kings in last 17th February, 2017. Though, the result came up by D/L methods due to rain. However, Islamabad United did not start the match very well and suddenly rain started in Sharjah. Due to rain, last match between Peshawar and Quetta was abandoned and the same weather affected the next game as well. But in the meantime, umpires reduced the match to 13 overs by when United scored just 90 runs by losing eight wickets. Later, the match was reduced again while Karachi in batting. They scored 75 runs in 9.4 overs where according to the D/L rules, they were given target to score 68 runs. So, Kings were announced as the winner of the match by 8 runs so far. It was their first victory in this ongoing 2nd edition of Pakistan Super League where they played total four matches already.

However, at the 10th match of the tournament, Karachi won the toss and came to bowl first. The current champion of PSL failed to start the match well enough but lost their first wicket Billings in 1 run. Later, Haddin was fallen in 10 runs so far. Lost their top two wickets so early, they were in somewhat pressure and the third wicket partnership, Smith and Misbah added 40 runs to the scoreboard. Smith was out back then by scoring highest 29 runs so far. Watson was also flop in that day but scored only 26 runs so far. Basically, rains affected the ground much and the crease went too slow. So, bowlers used the facilities against the first batting team. As a result, United end up with just 90 runs in 13 overs by losing 8 wickets. Mir and Imad took two wickets each.

Chasing score was not so easy for Karachi Kings but this time, luck was on their side. Chris Gayle did not stand this time too but Babar Azam stood strong and remained undefeated. He scored 47 runs in 30 balls. Basically, he led the team to victory. In 9.4 overs, they scored 75 runs and later they were announced as the winner according to D/L methods. After losing consecutive three matches in this tournament, finally Kings achieved a victory against the most potential team.
