Islamabad United started PSL 2 season with victory

Islamabad United which is the current champion of Pakistan Super League has started the second season of PSL with a remarkable victory against Peshawar Zalmi yesterday by seven wickets so far. Zalmi played their innings first and scored 190 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium by losing nine wickets. Came to answer, Islamabad reached the target in 17.4 overs where the match was reduced due to bad weather and according to D/L method, they were targeted to score 173 runs in 18 overs.

Earlier yesterday in the inaugural match of ongoing PSL 2 season, Zalmi faced United where United won the toss and decided to field. Came to bat, Zalmi lost their opener Hafeez with golden duck when team score was also 0. Later, Malan and Kamral Akmal took the lead and made 122 runs partnership which score led them to a biggest score at the end. Malan was out with bis 43 runs and Kamran made highest 88 runs for the team. After their second wicket partnership, last eight players could not make even 20 runs individually. But however, at the end of the 20 overs, they successfully scored 190 runs. At Dubai Stadium, 190 runs was pretty enough to defeat Islamabad United or any teams but United had the strongest batting line up in this competition consisted of Smith, Haddin, Watson, Billings and couple of talented local players.

So, came to chase the score, Islamabad United also stumbled so early when their score was just 14. Sharjeel Khan was being lbw by Hasan Ali. Later, in 2nd wicket partnership between Smith and Haddin, United added 104 runs. In the meantime, rain stopped the match and later by the umpires decision, the match was reduced to 18 overs and the target was 173. Smith and Haddin both scored more than fifty runs where Haddin scored highest 73 runs for United. Finally, Watson and Billings left the crease with victory in 17.4 overs.

Watson took four wickets where Sami and Irfan took two wickets each for United. But, Zalmi bowlers were not successful in the match and they could not tie the opponent innings. Junaid, Ali and Jordan took one wicket each for Zalmi. Haddin was announced as the player of the match.
