After facing an unexpected defeat against Karachi Kings, Islamabad United turned their back in the following games against Peshawar Zalmi but in their last match against Lahire Qalandars, they could not manage victory. This was their second defeat against Lahore Qalandars in this ongoing tournament. Earlier in the competition, United faced their first defeat against Qalandars in 4th match by six wickets and in second time faced defeat in 14th match of the tournament by just one wicket. Islamabad United was regarded as one of the top contender in the 2nd edition of PSL and also started the season with a remarkable victory but unfortunately their winning calculation is getting poorer. They managed victory only three times by playing total six matches and so, their ranking position was reduced to the 3rd from the top. However, in the 14th match of the tournament, United batted first and scored 145 runs total at the selected 20 overs by losing eight wickets but Lahore successfully chased the score and they needed to play just 19.2 overs to do this job. They lost total nine wickets in the meantime.

The match between Islamabad and Lahore was staged at Sharjah Cricket Ground where Lahore Qalandars won the toss and came to field. Islamabad United faced their opening problem once again who failed to make a strong partnership but broken within 32 runs in 3.3 overs. Though, their scoring rate was amazing at the beginning of the match but they could not keep it. After five runs, they lost second and in next another five runs lost their 3rd wickets so far. First six batsmen of United failed to play quite long but only Shadab came to bat at the 7th position and made a highest 42 runs in just 24 balls. Finally, at the end of 20 overs, they scored 145 runs by losing eight wickets so far. Aamer Yamin took three and Yasir Shah took two wickets for Qalandars.

On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars also stumbled in 4.5 overs when they lost Delport. Besides, their run rate was so poor and their batsmen also could not stand for long. But, Umar Akmal only stood very strong for the team and scored 66 runs highest in 42 balls. Basically he alone led the team to victory and if he could fail to do so, then they could face another defeat. Now, through the winning against United, Lahore promoted to the second position of point table though they also won three match es out of six but as per the run rate, they are ahead of United.
