Earlier in 10th December, Afghan won the toss and decided to bat first. Considering the first two matches, the first batting team used to win the match. So, by deciding to bat first was good decision. But, team Afghanistan could not make a big score but finished their innings with 177 runs. They lost all wickets there in 48.2 overs. Rashid Khan scored highest 44 runs for the team. The score was poor and easy to chase. In 38 overs, Ireland reached the destination. They just lost five wickets. Paul Stirling scored highest 101 runs in 97 balls. So, Irish team won the series by 2 – 1.

Basically Ireland and Afghanistan are almost same ranked team and holding last two place considering ICC ODI ranking. But at the home venue, Afghan should win the series it seems.

Their series started in 5th December, 2017 with the first ODI. In first match, Afghanistan won and led the series by 1 – 0. But in 2nd match, Ireland made balance by winning the match. So, there was no other way but to win the 3rd ODI and Irish team did it successfully.

Javed Ahmadi and Noor Ali Zadran opened the innings for Afghanistan. Like before, their openers did not add much runs but partnership was broken in 34 runs so far. Zadran scored just 9 runs. Just after 2 runs, another wicket was gone. He scored just 27 runs. Since then they did not able to make any long bond but just two players scored few runs. Rahmat Shah and Rashid Khan scored 44 runs each. Due to the failure of their top orders and middle orders, their innings finished with 177 runs. They played just 48.2 overs. Dockrell took four wickets and McCarthy took three wickets for Irish team.

On the other side, captain Porterfield and Stirling started the innings for Ireland. Today Porterfield did not play well but scored just 4 runs. But another opener Stirling played bravely and almost dominated the Afghan bowlers. He scored 101 runs where his partner Balbirnie scored 35 runs so far. Rest players added few runs and through them, Irish managed another victory and claimed the series.
