Ireland won by 51 runs

2nd ODI between Ireland and Afghanistan was staged in 7th December, 2017 where Ireland won by 51 runs. Earlier at 7th December, Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first. The match between them was staged at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Ireland scored 271 runs by losing nine wickets in their innings. They played complete 50 overs. Paul Stirling who was one of their top batsman scored highest 82 runs in 96 balls. In return, Afghan got packet in 220 runs. They did not able to play whole 50 overs but their innings was finished in 45.2 overs. Javed Ahmadi scored 48 runs highest for Afghan team. Barry McCarthy took highest five wickets for Ireland.

Earlier in 1st ODI between this two teams, Afghanistan won and led the series by 1 – 0. So, the guest team Ireland desperately seeking a victory and through the victory they made an even with Afghan team. Now, the series tied with 1 – 1. One match was still in hand and the team could win last match victory, they did able to manage the series.

However, Irish cricket team is currently travelling to the side of Afghan and Afghanistan cricket board arranged a home tournament at the venue of United Arab Emirates. Due to the restriction, they could not manage any home tournament in their home ground.

Now, came to bat Irish skipper Porterfield and Stirling made a great opening partnership that added 115 runs to the scorecard. Porterfield was out with 47 runs. But Stirling played strongly at the end of the crease. Rest players did not give him another support and so, he was gone with his 82 individual runs. Lower order player Dockrell played also well today and scored 62 runs. Through this three players score, Irish team finished their innings with 271 runs. Dockrell and Chase remained not out till the end. They lost total nine wickets and Mujeeb, Dawlat,Nabi and Rashid Khan took two wickets each for Afghanistan.

However, Afghanistan also made a good opening partnership but in 46 runs opener Ihsanullah was gone. He scored 20 runs. Later in 1st wickets partnership between Javed and Rahmat, they added few more runs. Their partnership was the best in their innings. Javed scored 48 and Rauns so far. Rest players just made some small partnership not enough to beat Ireland. They eneded up with 220 runs in 45.2 overs. McCarthy took five and Chase took two wickets for Irish team.
