Ireland has opted out of visiting Pakistan in September 2014 for One Day Series

Pakistan’s hope of getting back the international cricket to Pakistan has dealt a big blow as Irish team who were in talks with pakistan cricket board, opted out of the proposed tour which was suppose to start in september 2014. Thats a bad news for Pakistan who suffered another terrorist attack in the country. Karachi airport was the target of militants last week which lead to halt in talks about the Ireland-Pakistan series in Pakistan.

Ireland Cricket Board Chairman released this statement

Cricket Ireland and PCB were in the very advance stages of the discussion about ireland’s tour to pakistan, where three one day internationals were planed which were supposed to be played in september

The provisional contract had been signed which was subject to security review and contract agreement from Irish players and coaches staff. But due to the recent attacks on Karachi airport ireland cricket board has opted out of the series but leaving the door open for some future dates

Ireland of course are hoping to tie down as many international matches against top test nations as possible for the preparation of 2015 world cup.

PCB Chairman Najam Sethi stated

I can assure you that, PCB is making every effort to ensure international crickets comes back to pakistan, we are trying to use diplomatic channels to convince teams to visit pakistan and provide them the best security assurance.
