West Indies powerhouse Chris Gayle once again demonstrated his unassailable hard hitting in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener took the baton from the start itself to rip through the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bowling line up at the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Put into bat first, Gayle stepped in as the opener alongside skipper Virat Kohli. Making no alterations to the conventional way, the West Indian played some belligerent shots, while Kohli stood unruffled at the other end, giving the strike to his partner as and when possible.

This ploy worked out more than expected, thanks to some butter-finger catching from the KXIP fielders in the middle overs.

Be it Sandeep Sharma, Mitchell Johnson, Axar Patel, Glenn Maxwell, or Karanveer Singh; all the bowlers had to face the wrath of Gayle’s raw power. He, consequently, went on to complete his 14th century in the shortest format of the sport in just 46 balls.

And this time he celebrated in a different manner, not going for a regular raise of the bat or performing the renowned Gangnam style. Instead, he placed the willow down, and took off the revels in the style of famous footballer Christiano Ronaldo.

He ran a bit off the pitch, jumped in joy, crossed his arms, opened them up simultaneously while coming down, and eventually posed with open arms – something what Ronaldo does many a time after productively scoring a goal in football.

His 119-run partnership with Kohli laid a solid foundation for teammate AB de Villiers to finish off in style as RCB cruised to amass a whopping 226 runs in 20 overs.

The RCB bowlers – led by left-arm pacers Mitchell Starc and Sreenath Arvind – did the rest by taking 4 wickets apiece to bundle out KXIP for a paltry total of 88 runs, handing over the hosts a colossal 138-run victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
