India won 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan cricket team is now in India where they have started to play against team India in 16th November, 2017. The series started with Test competitions. But Sri Lanka lost the Test series against Men in Blues. However, before making the main competition, they also played a warm up match there. Now, they are in ODI schedule which has started in 10th December, 2017. Now, India won 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka by 141 runs.

India won 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka

The ODI series consisted of three matches where in the first match, the Lions got victory over the local team by seven wickets. Now, they have just one match left to secure the series. After the Test series defeat, the Lions seems desperate to bring the ODI series at home. But at local ground it would be very tough to beat India.

Team India is now standing in the top of the ICC ODI ranking and to beat them will really be a tough job. Besides, they have the strongest batting line up in their squad. So, to beat them the Lions should give their best and also they need some luck there.

The 2nd match between them was staged in 13th December, 2017 at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali where Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field first like the first ODI. But here in 2nd ODI, Indian batsmen showed great performance. Rohit Sharma made a double century in ODI match which makes him the 1st batsman to score three double centuries in ODIs. Based on his score, India presented a huge target in front of the Lions. They scored 392 runs by losing just four wickets in selected 50 overs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka ended up with 251 runs by losing eight wickets. Angelo Mathews also scored 111 runs and remained unbeaten in the match. So, they were lost by 141 runs so far.

Indian regular skipper Virat Kohli was not in the squad and so, captaincy went to Rohit Sharma. He with Dhawan opened the innings for India and added 115 runs with their opening partnership. Dhawan was out with 68 runs. Later, Iyer came and joined with Sharma and added more than 200 runs. Their partnership was broken in 45.3 overs when Iyer was gone with 88 runs so far. Dhoni and Pandya did not score much runs but opener Rohit Sharma finished 50 overs successfully and remained unbeaten. He scored 208 runs in 153 balls. He made thirteen 4’s and twelve 6’s in his innings.

In return, Sri Lanka finished their innings with 251 runs. Just Mathews made a good innings. Rest players did not score any fifty there. So, now the series has come to an even with 1 – 1.
