India Test skipper Virat Kohli completed 1000 runs in a calendar year

Virat Kohli who is the current Test skipper of Indian national cricket team has recently touched another milestone and become the third Indian batsman to score one thousand Test runs in a calendar year while playing against England on their fourth Test. Kohli scored total 235 runs in their first innings of the 4th match which was the highest individual score in the match. Based on his ton of scores, Men in Blues declared their first innings by making 631 runs so far.

Virat Kohli who is currently 28 years old, made his Test debut in 20th June, 2011 against West Indies. Till now, he played already 52 long format matches and successfully crossed 4000 runs. Due to his extraordinary and amazing batting skills, he is considered as the new little master.

Little master is a title which used to call Sachin Tendulkar who is the living legend and former master batsman of Indian national cricket team. Besides, Sachin is regarded as the greatest batsman ever in the world. So, Virat is now often compared with Sachin.

Now, in their fourth Test against England at Wankhede Stadium, Kohli made a double century and completed Thousand runs in a year in Test competition. He is the 3rd Indian batsman to achieve that honour. Before him, Rahul Dravid scored 1095 runs in the year of 2006 and Sachin Tendulkar scored 1000 in 1997. Besides, through this century, Kohli to place himself among those players who make at least fifteen Test hundreds. Total nine Indian batsman along with Virat scored such number of hundreds where Sunil Gavaskar achieved it by playing 77 innings where Kohli has done it by playing 89 innings and Tendulkar also hit it by playing same number of innings.

On the other side, English pacer Anderson stated that Kohli is favoured by their home venue. Kohli’s batting average is now 128 in this Test series against England and totally scored more than 600 runs in this series. But, the English pacer is not ready to agree with many news portal which has favoured Virat’s skill. Anderson has thought that if the series used to host at England, then Kohli might not able to show such skills. In 2014, while playing each other in England, Kohli was out by this Anderson total four times where he batting average was only 13.40.
