After his standout performance in his side’s 2-0 series win over hosts West Indies recently, Australia batsman Steven Smith has soared up to the crest of Test rankings, released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday.

The 26-year-old Smith played a pivotal acquittal in Australia’s recent away thrashing of West Indies by scoring an aggregate of 253 runs in the second Test, including a magnificent 199-run knock that helped his rankings ascend to the zenith.

Smith now has 913 points, four more than second-ranked Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara.

Elsewhere, India’s Virat Kohli dropped out of the top 10 list after a dismal show in the diminutive prospect while leading his side in the rain-marred one-off Test match against Bangladesh in Fatullah, which ultimately ended in a draw.
